A black bear rug is not usually found on a habitat farm, but most hunting lodges have them.
The northern subspecies living in Alaska and Canada have more dense and long coats. These animals are more difficult to hunt than their southern counterparts, because they are more aggressive due to a lack of exposure to human population and harsh climate.

This species is highly prized for its long and very coarse coat, which consists of two types of hair: insulative, dense and soft undercoat and coarse guard hair, which protects the animal from insects and dirt and can resist water. A black bear rug is not usually found on a habitat farm, but most hunting lodges have them.
