Black Forest Bear
The black forest bear has a few babies a year whose death rate is high due to hunting that deprives the litter of a mother.
Being omnivorous and occasional feeders these animals may vary their diet depending upon season and locality. Spring is the hardest time when they have to eat carrion; in May and June these animals forage, fish and eat eggs. Late summer and fall allows them to get ready for hibernation.

Ursus americanum has a large range all over North America from as far south as Mexico to as far north as Alaska. These animals are found in various habitats where food is available; the largest density occurs in river valleys, they can also live in mountainous regions and tundra.
